Background: (Pro)renin receptor[(P)RR] is a multi-functioning transmembrane protein which plays key roles in the regulation of tissue renin-angiotensin system (RAS). (P)RR is cleaved by furin to generate soluble (P)RR[s(P)RR], which is secreted into extracellular space. We previously reported that high blood concentration of s(P)RR indicates poor organ prognosis in several diseases.
